When Jiraya receives a massage from his sources that leader of Akatsuki called Pain is some where in Amagakure (hidden rain village). In search of the leader of Akatsuki Jiraya heads for Amagakure and safely infiltrates into the village. There he manages to trap two minor shinobi who were working for Akatsuki. During his investigation he finds that Pain single handed destroyed entire Amagakure and his leader Salamander Hanzou. Salamander Hanzou was the one who gave Jiraya, Tsunade and Orochimaru the title of Legendary Sannin of the Leaf. Moreover he finds that Pain uses proxy to communicate to his people and after defeating Salamander Hanzou he had become a legend in his village. Despite that every one talked about his in such respect knows one quite knows that either he has a physical body or not. Only valuable information that he got from that shinobi was that Pain lives in a tallest tower.
